Essential Equipment for Surgery
The latest donation from SANC and Sahlgrenska University Hospital (SU) has arrived at Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) and its Neurosurgery department in The Gambia. This time, SANC & SU donated a C-arm which is used by surgeons to ensure optimal outcomes for patients. The mobile Computed Tomography (CT) Machine Equipment donated earlier in 2025 enables imaging and diagnostics. SANC has previously donated an Operating Microscope to enable the Neurosurgeons to illuminate image of the small structures in the surgical area, a donation to the same hospital with the help of Lund University Hospital. While The Gambia received this equipment, the Neurosurgical department of John F Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Liberia received a large donation through a collaboration of SANC, Korle Bu Neuroscience Foundation (KBNF), Sahlgenska University Hospital (SU), Lund University and Kuopio University. This donation consisted of two C-arms, an Operating table, and an Operating Microscope. Right now, SANC is working on raising funds to send a C-arm to the Neurosurgery department at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Ghana.
